Macbeth murders King Duncan and becomes king of Scotland. However, he is soon haunted by guilt and paranoia. He begins to see the ghost of Duncan and he starts to lose his grip on reality.

Lady Macbeth is also driven mad by guilt. She sleepwalks and talks in her sleep about the murder of Duncan. She eventually dies by suicide.
