10 Common Sense Reforms to the Constitution

1. Term limits for Supreme Court justices. Currently, Supreme Court justices serve for life. This can lead to a situation where justices are out of touch with the values of the American people. Term limits would help to ensure that the Court is more responsive to the needs of the nation. 2. A balanced budget amendment. The federal government has been running a budget deficit for decades. This has led to a massive increase in the national debt, which is now over $22 trillion. A balanced budget amendment would require the government to live within its means and would help to reduce the national debt.
3. A line-item veto for the president. The president currently has the power to veto entire bills, but he does not have the power to veto individual items in a bill. A line-item veto would give the president more power to control spending and would help to reduce waste and fraud.
4. A constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United. The Citizens United decision has allowed corporations and unions to spend unlimited amounts of money on political campaigns. This has led to a situation where the wealthy have an undue influence on our elections. A constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United would help to level the playing field and would make our elections more fair. 5. A constitutional amendment to create a national popular vote for president. The current system of electing the president is unfair. The candidate who wins the popular vote does not always win the Electoral College, which can lead to a situation where the president is not the choice of the majority of the American people. A national popular vote would ensure that the president is always elected by the majority of the American people.
6. A constitutional amendment to lower the voting age to 16. The voting age in the United States is currently 18. However, there is no good reason why 16- and 17-year-olds should not be allowed to vote. They are old enough to drive, work, and pay taxes, and they should have the right to vote as well.
7. A constitutional amendment to guarantee access to affordable healthcare. Healthcare is a basic human right. However, in the United States, healthcare is often unaffordable for many people. A constitutional amendment to guarantee access to affordable healthcare would ensure that everyone in the United States has access to the healthcare they need.
8. A constitutional amendment to protect the environment. The environment is essential to our survival. However, the environment is under attack from climate change, pollution, and other threats. A constitutional amendment to protect the environment would help to ensure that our planet is healthy for future generations.
9. A constitutional amendment to promote peace. The United States has been involved in wars for most of its history. However, war is never the answer. A constitutional amendment to promote peace would help to ensure that the United States only goes to war as a last resort.
10. A constitutional amendment to create a more perfect union. The United States is a great country, but it is not perfect. There is still much work to be done to create a more perfect union. A constitutional amendment to create a more perfect union would help to ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed.

These are just a few of the common sense reforms that are urgently needed to our Constitution. These reforms would help to make our government more responsive, more accountable, and more fair. They would also help to protect our environment, promote peace, and create a more perfect union.

It is time for us to come together as a nation and make these reforms happen. The future of our union depends on it.

Call to Action

If you agree that these reforms are needed, please contact your elected officials and let them know. We need to show our support for these reforms and demand that they be enacted.

Together, we can make a difference. Let's work together to create a more perfect union for ourselves and for our children.
