About the Author
Alexandra Kollontai was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1872. She became involved in the revolutionary movement in the 1890s, and was exiled to Siberia in 1904. After the Russian Revolution in 1917, Kollontai served as People's Commissar for Social Welfare and then as Ambassador to Norway and Mexico.
Kollontai was a prolific writer, and her work on feminism and Marxism has been translated into many languages. She died in Moscow in 1952.
